Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz County

Organization Description

Afterschool activities in-person and online.

Program Information

MISSION: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County promotes youth guidance through educational, vocational, recreational, social and character development of girls and boys ages 6 to 18. The Club is the only youth service organization in the greater Santa Cruz area providing daily afterschool drop-in programs five days a week. We also offer a summer day camp program five days a week from mid-June through mid-August, and Winter and Spring break day camps.

Members come to the Club looking for fun and a sense of belonging. Our youth meet new friends and learn to develop skills benefiting them over a lifetime.

The Boys & Girls Club has a core of career professionals trained to provide leadership and guidance through individual assistance, small group, and drop-in activities.

Youth Development Strategy
We want to help youth gain self-esteem and achieve their full potential, so all Club programs are organized and implemented with our Youth Development Strategy in mind.

We give youth:

  • A Sense of Belonging: A setting where young people know they “fit” and are accepted.
  • A Sense of Power or Influence: A chance to be heard and to influence decisions.
  • A Sense of Competence: The feeling there are things boys and girls can do, and do well.
  • A Sense of Usefulness: The opportunity to do something of value for other people.
