Program Information

Opportunity Title: 4th year Student Intern

Opportunity Summary: Embrace the opportunity to experience alternative medicine, holistic care, and exotic medicine along with feline and canine veterinary care.

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned...how our veterinarians incorporate alternative medicines and holistic veterinary care into a treatment plan. Introduction into entering medical terminology into patient medical records. Fear-free and low-stress restraint for felines, canines and exotic pets.

The following tasks/activities students would be doing for this opportunity:

  • Administer, conduct, or oversee an assessment process
  • Assist a professional
  • Conduct scientific analysis and/or testing
  • Gather and/or write oral histories
  • Observe a professional and/or client
  • Shadow a professional

What training will be provided to students to perform these responsibilities? Full access to our Standard Operating Procedure manual, training on in-house analyzers, hands-on training in treatment and rooms.

How will you provide ongoing support and supervision to students? Students are welcome to ask veterinarians and staff questions they may have and can ask staff to train them for specific tasks.

Where will this opportunity take place? On-site/In-Person

Please provide your organizations COVID-19 safety guidelines and protocol: All staff are required to do temperature checks upon entering the building. PPE to include but not limited to gloves, aprons, and masks are available for all staff and interns to use each day.

Please provide any safety information specific to this opportunity.: No handling any animals without proper restraint. No staff are permitted to assist with x-ays without a doss badge.

Please indicate the number of hours and duration a student would need to commit for this opportunity: 6 hours per week

Provide any additional information for students in regards to the application process (e.g., supplemental questions, interview and/or resume): In person interview is required with the Practice Manager as well as an onsite tour to decide if this is the best fit for the intern.

Health & Safety

Is there anything else not covered that might impact the safety and well-being of your clients and/or university participants? Students cannot assist with radiographs unless they have a dosimetry badge.
