AIS - Graduate Student Worker (MPH)At — County of San Diego, Health and Human Services, Aging & Independence Services
The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, Aging & Independence Services Health Promotion unit works to implement several nutrition education and physical activity programs for older adults, in addition to our Aging Roadmap and Age Well San Diego initiatives. We conduct chronic disease self-management workshops, lead Alzheimer's disease and related dementia outreach efforts, and continuously plan an array of programs to help reduce social isolation within our older adult populations. We are a highly specialized team of public health professionals working to improve the quality of life for older adult residents of San Diego county.
By the end of their internship, student interns will learn program planning and development, program implementation, concepts of budget planning, strategic planning, community outreach, communication plan development, and may earn certifications as leaders in specific evidence-based public health programs.
Students will receive onboarding training in their first few weeks on the job. Additional training will be conducted as needed based on operational need. For certain evidence-based health promotion programs, the student interns may receive an opportunity to attend training from program developers and will receive additional certifications in those evidence-based programs. Student interns will work with their supervisor to receive or attend all necessary trainings.
