Organization Description

If you have a sick or injured child, or one that is struggling with developmental issues, Coastal Kids Home Care can provide the in-home treatment they need to heal and thrive, or to live as fully as possible if their condition is chronic or cannot be cured. 

Coastal Kids is California’s only non-profit pediatric home health agency. Whether the medical need is great or small, ongoing or brief, we are ready and available to help, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our team of registered nurses, professional therapists, and medical social workers work hand-in-hand with families to create a plan of care that is entirely unique to their child’s situation. Program Information

Case worker for pediatric palliative care and end of life care. Intern will carry own case load after extensive training and observation. Intern will do case management, coordination of medical appointments and equipment, resource referrals, and emotional support sessions with family (counseling). Interns have access to supervisor at all times during internship hours for questions and support.

Interns will also be assigned to CKHC Enhanced Care Management Program (ECM.) Inters will help identify families within the community that can utilize CCAH new participant benefit.

Health & Safety

Exposure to sick children, airborne illness and infectious diseases.

Agency is notified prior to admit of child with contagious illnesses. Standard precautions always taken. Staff makes visits in pairs if danger is a possibility. Students are asked to store personal goods in their trunk or out of sight. Students have the right to leave any situation at any time for reasons of safety.

No incidents in history of the organization. Occasionally we serve a patient/ family in areas with violence or in such poverty that homes contain mold or are dilapidated.
