Community Bridges -Mountain Community Resources

Organization Description

At Community Bridges our mission is to deliver essential services, provide equitable access to resources, and advocate for health and dignity across every stage of life. Since 1977, Community Bridges has been a catalyst for a brighter future by providing basic resources for the people of Santa Cruz County. Our family of ten vital programs across 20 different sites serves thousands of local children, families, and seniors each year. While each program is remarkable on its own, together we are unstoppable.

Program Information

Mountain Community Resources Counselor Trainee will work under the Clinical Supervisor to provide one-on-one and group counseling for youth referred by San Lorenzo Valley School District, Santa Cruz County Probation Department, and low-income youth and families who self-refer.

Health & Safety

As a drop-in resource center, Mountain Community Resources serves individuals experiencing trauma and crisis, those with substance abuse issues, mental health issues, and those referred from Santa Cruz County Court and CPS for family issues including anger and violence.

At MCR we are always looking at polices and procedures to keep staff safe. We are never open to the public without at least two staff members available. All staff and volunteers are required to consent to a background check and all persons including clients must follow our Code of Conduct which includes a zero-tolerance policy on intimidation, hate speech, and bulling. Staff and volunteers who violate this policy and disciplined through CB HR policies and clients may be warned or restricted from the building either temporarily or permanently depending on the severity of the offense.

We recommend that the best way to keep staff, volunteers, and clients safe is clear and prompt communication with other staff members and volunteers. We encourage "see/hear/feel something say something" to initiate the best actions when someone is feeling unsafe.
