Monterey Peninsula Unified School District

Organization Description

At MPUSD, the Educational Services department is committed to providing services and support to meet the needs of our diverse learners from grades K-12 and beyond. We work together with our school leaders and staff to ensure all of our students have access to a high-quality instructional program and the services needed to succeed as individuals.

Program Information

We are offering an exciting internship opportunity for Master of Social Work (MSW) students to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic school district setting. Interns will work with students, staff, and families in K-12 schools, supporting mental health initiatives. You will implement therapeutic modalities, provide case management, and lead group interventions on topics like coping skills, bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and chronic absenteeism. Interns will also run groups for staff (work-life balance, mindfulness, trauma-informed practices) and parents (positive reinforcement, parenting teens, stress management).

Additionally, interns will collaborate with school staff, attend PBIS meetings, participate in professional development, and contribute to a trauma-informed environment.

School hours are typically 8:00 AM–3:00 PM (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) and 8:00 AM–2:00 PM (Wed), with placements based on district needs.

This internship offers a chance to make a meaningful impact while developing valuable skills in social work. Apply today!
