Organization Description

Pajaro Valley Prevention and Student Assistance (PVPSA) is a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing education, training, counseling, and prevention services to students, families and staff in the Pajaro Valley Unified School District.

By helping prevent criminal behavior, gang involvement, truancy, and drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, PVPSA improves the quality of life in our community and its schools.

To support education by providing mental health support to students and their families.

Program Information

This is a school based placement that requires around 16 hours/week commitment. Interns provide counseling services individual, group and family counseling, crisis intervention and case management services to an assigned caseload of students. Placement takes place during school hours. Interns may pick their internship days based on their schedule. This placement provides 2 weekly hours of group clinical supervision as well as 1 hour of individual clinical supervision. We also provide excellent monthly trainings on relevant subject material. Health & Safety

Interns have weekly contact with their FI's and are placed at secure school environments and are informed of all safety procedures/policies at the time of orientation.
Interns will have access to PPE equipment (masks, face shields, sanitizer) and will follow social distance practices when meeting with clients. Interns will be complying with agency and school district COVID regulations based on current CDC recommendations.

Interns will be providing school-based services in person. Interns will be placed at a designated school-site. They will be exposed to in-person contact with children, school and agency staff throughout their internship.
