MISSION

The Mission of the Salinas City Elementary School District is to provide a well-rounded education with multiple opportunities for all students’ success.

VISION

We expect all children to be at or above grade level.

Program Information

Salinas City Elementary School District is a TK-6 district with 15 school sites (14 mainstream, 1 virtual school). Social Work interns would be working alongside one of our School Counselors (who are MSWs) and providing the following services: individual and group counseling, assisting with risk and threat assessments, helping to facilitate classroom meetings, supporting teachers with classroom interventions, supporting parents with interventions at home, participating in collaborative meetings at the school site and district levels, resource building, and participating in continuing to develop a well rounded counseling program. Interns may also have opportunities to attend MTSS (SST) meetings, parent teacher conferences, IEP meetings, PBIS meetings, and 504 Plan meetings. Interns may also have the opportunity to facilitate some basic training for teachers and/or parents on different social emotional/mental health topics.

Health & Safety

All service learning students will be required to have a TB test and Fingerprinting prior to starting their service hours.

School is in-person, possible exposure to COVID or other sicknesses. At this time, masks are optional for students and staff. If exposure takes place, district nurse does contact tracing, those exposed will be tested on site. Increased cleaning protocols of all rooms since return to in-person school. Staff are required to show proof of full COVID vaccination or agree to weekly COVID testing. Eventually, students may be required to be vaccinated for COVID as well. Entire school site is informed when a student or staff member tests positive for COVID to watch for symptoms, regardless of direct exposure. Protocols are subject to change as new direction/suggestions from State/CDC come out.
