Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy (LAANE)

Organization Description

Our vision is to help build a new economy rooted in good jobs, thriving communities and a healthy environment. Here in Los Angeles and in cities across the country, we are moving steadily toward that vision - recharging democracy through grassroots organizing and community-oriented policy. Change is indeed happening as we see and hear how organizing and policy really impact daily life for workers and working families. Yet so much more is possible. Los Angeles is marked by stark inequality, and we know how much lies ahead of us. We hope you can support our vision working toward economic equality, a cleaner environment, and thriving communities in our city and beyond.

Program Information

LAANE is a nationally recognized advocacy organization dedicated to building a new economy for all. Combining dynamic research, innovative public policy, and strategic organizing of broad alliances, LAANE promotes a new economic approach based on good jobs, thriving communities, and a healthy environment.

Health & Safety

All service opportunities are 100% remote/virtual

Our work involving vulnerable communities in the policy/change making work we undertake. One of the two projects we have available to students is dealing with nursing homes, who more likely than not, involve the elderly and disabled communities. Depending on activities, there will be opportunities to directly engage with these communities.

Project leads -- in coordination with our site supervisor -- will manage the hours each student has left, their shift start and shift end.
