Youth Development Professional InternAt — Boys & Girls Club of Carson
Our Club is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization serving over 850 kids after school each day across 10 locations in Carson, Gardena, and South Los Angeles. The Club relies upon regular and consistent volunteers to serve as Youth Development Professional Volunteers (YDPs). YDP’s plan, implement and evaluate activities with youth ages 6 through 18 in the areas of Academic Success, Health & Lifestyle, and Good Character & Citizenship. As a YDP volunteer, you could, for example, teach a weekly art class, coach a dozen middle school youth basketball, mentor a teen through the college application process, or tutor a 3rd grader in reading. The Club welcomes volunteers with unique interests. Depending on a location’s needs and youth's interests, YDP volunteers can often start their own weekly activity with guidance from a supervisor or club staff member.
How to plan, implement, and evaluate after-school programs.
Interns will complete MPLN-Annual Training Child Abuse Awareness Training (CAAT) / Beyond the Bell Risk Management (RMT) / Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training (SPAT) 2022-2023 before they're even allowed on site. Once they complete that training, they will begin their hands-on training with their site supervisor and club staff.
Volunteers/Interns must wear masks in and outdoors at all times while in presence of our members and staff, maintain social distancing when possible, and wash and sanitize hands.
