City of Marina- Community Development

Program Information

General Description of what students will be doing at this Site:

Our lucky student intern will be assisting the Community Development Dept. (CDD) Director, City staff, and consultant with the preparation of the City's 6th Cycle Housing Element. This planning document is a requirement for all cities in California and it helps direct the development of all types of housing into the future. The intern will help specifically with outreach using the City's social media platform (and perhaps improving the existing media presence), helping with public meetings and workshops in evenings and possibly a weekend here or there, tabling at local events, finding and managing data, hopefully helping with interpretation (Spanish/Korean) if possible, and keeping the Department website updated with current HE events and notifications.

This is a chance for the student intern to learn about the intricate steps involved in ensuring that quality and affordable housing options are available for families, students, seniors, and everyone in between!

Key Responsibilities: Data collection and organization, report writing
