Aquatic Instructor AssistantAt — Kernes Adaptive Aquatics at Josephine Kernes Memorial Pool
- Provide full one-to-one assistance in the swimming pool with Aquatic Instructor and client who have physical mobility challenges or delay in mental abilities.
- Assist the Aquatic Instructors with providing exercise routines in an adaptive aquatic warm water setting; student must possess swimming skills.
- Learn how water therapy allows clients to work on range of motion, full body circulation, mental stimulation, and balance; which they would not be able to perform safely on land.
Interested students MUST have swim experience. The typical schedule for students is 3 hours a day, 2 times per week; totaling 6 hours in the pool per week.

Requirement:
- Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
- Driver's License
- Must be 18 or older
- Pre-Placement Training
- Vaccinations
Students will receive individualized training and shadowing opportunities with working with clients on their exercise routines.
Students will work side by side with the Aquatic Instructor, and are never left alone unsupervised with a client in the water.
Student will take part in light exercise and swim activities in a 92-degree indoor pool with a depth of 3ft. to 5.5ft for approximately 3 hours per visit. The typical schedule for students is 3 hours a day, 2 times per week; totaling 6 hours in the pool per week. The student (along with the Aquatic Instructor) will assist the clients into and out of the pool using stairs and a non-motorized pool lift.
