Opportunity Summary 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Rebound Outreach Team Member will work with the Program Director and PR Staff in an office setting on the CSUF campus and in other areas of the university as well as assisting in maintaining the community partnerships that Project Rebound has established with community-based organizations and public agencies that service and support formerly incarcerated individuals. 

 

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

·       Assist Project Rebound in meeting all outreach and enrollment deadlines and responsibilities required by the program, community colleges, community partners, and collaborative organizations.

·       Build and maintain community partnership in Orange County that include but are not limited to:  Project Kinship, DAPO, P.A.C.T Meeting Coordinator, Community Colleges and others.

·       Recruitment, Orientation, and Outreach duties that include but are not limited to:  contacting and maintaining relationships with Formerly Incarcerated student groups at local community colleges, juvenile facilities, attend transfer center orientations and fairs, schedule quarterly meeting with community colleges who support the Rising Scholars Network to ensure enrollment and transfer pipelines are sustained.

·       Assist Student Outreach Team with on campus tabling and in-reach.

·       Help facilitate and host meetings and workshops that involve Ally trainings, Project Rebound informational presentations and political education on and off campus.

·       Various clerical tasks (data entry, photocopying, filing) as needed.

·       Other duties as needed.

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Must maintain a 2.5 GPA

·       In-depth understanding of pertinent issues related to the criminal justice system and the reentry and reintegration of formerly incarcerated populations.

·       Strong preference will be given to candidates who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the project’s target population (i.e., a formerly incarcerated person).

·       Strong written and oral communication and leadership skills.

·       Proficiency working with computers and popular software packages.

·       Consistent attention to detail, clarity, and organization.

·       Must be able to work independently and take initiative.

·       Ability to work effectively with numerous members of the professional academic community.

·       A passionate commitment to the mission of Project Rebound.

·       Experience working with currently and formerly incarcerated individuals.

Student will support PR staff with recruitment, orientation, and outreach to prospective students in a variety of communities including jails and prisons.

Training:

The student will be trained by experienced staff in PR policies and protocols, transformative justice practices, and university admission and enrollment policies.

The student will learn active listening skills.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to: working more effectively with individuals who have experienced the criminal legal system.
