Editorial InternAt — Writers Resist Press

Opportunity Summary 

The editorial intern at Writers Resist will have the opportunity to learn the workings of a literary journal, from evaluating submissions to curating an issue to hosting a virtual public reading, while collaborating with published authors and intersectional feminist activists.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

The Editorial Intern will: 1. Develop the ability to evaluate creative writing for craft, effect, and relevance to the publication’s theme and vision. 2. Gain an understanding of the demands and dynamics of editing others’ writing for publication. 3. Practice collaboration with a diverse creative team. 4. Experience the challenge and joy of curating an issue of the journal. 5. Collaboratively organize and co-host a public literary event via Zoom.

Opportunity Training 

The editorial intern will be trained on our submission system and related procedures, virtually shadow members of the editorial team as they evaluate and respond to submissions, and then review submissions independently. Additionally, the intern will be trained in the complexities of curating an issue in preparation for taking responsibility for an issue.
