Opportunity Summary 

1 in 13 kids under the age of 18 will experience the death of a biological parent or sibling. That number doubles under the age of 24. Working with New Hope Grief gives students a chance to recieve comprehenisve grief support trainig and have a hands on experience working with children in the LBUSD. These skills and experiences will not only equip the student to suppor children in our community, but the many peers and/or family members students will encounter who have been touched by death and are living with grief.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will be trained and mentored in grief support to support grieving students in our community, as well as have a skill set that will increase their confidence and competence to support bereaved people throughout their lives.

Opportunity Training 

Students will recieve 5 hours of training to facilitate school groups & 9 hours of training for Family Camp (when applicable)

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

All School based programs must abide by school safety requirements which may include covid vaccines and up to date TB shots.
