Event and Outreach Volunteer At — Regeneración Pajaro Valley Climate Action

Opportunity Summary 

Concerned about Climate Change? Help Regeneración Pajaro Valley Climate Action plan events and lead outreach efforts to build a climate-resilient community! 

Students will work closely with Regeneración - Pajaro Valley Climate Action staff to plan, organize, and execute outreach events and activities.

This includes:

  • Attending and/or tabling at community events to share information about our organization.
  • Promoting climate action.
  • Engaging with the public.
  • Helping with electric vehicle (EV) displays.
  • Participating in Earth Day activities.
  • Supporting outreach efforts for various local initiatives.
  • Conducting community surveys around transportation challenges and barriers.
  • Other outreach opportunities around sustainable transportation. 

Students will have the opportunity to actively engage with local residents to gather valuable survey data in key areas of focus: Watsonville, Freedom,Pajaro, Las Lomas, Hollister, Twin Lakes, and Live Oak.

Requirements:

  • Being bilingual in Spanish and English is required for this position, as students will be working with a diverse community and must effectively communicate in both languages.
  • A reliable means of transportation to Watsonville and other outreach locations is also necessary to attend tabling events and conduct survey outreach.
Opportunity Training 

Training will include meetings with community organizers to familiarize you with our organization's previous work and current projects. We will provide some initial background readings and connect you with people within our organization in charge of events and partner organizations that we might collaborate with. We will be available and open for questions. 

We will have weekly or bi-weekly online 1-1 meetings with students to check progress and set goals.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students might have to work after 6pm since some of the events start in the evening.
