Opportunity Summary 

Service Learning students here will work with inspired and experienced community volunteers to:

  • propagate and plant native plants while removing non-native species
  • build, plant, and harvest raised garden beds
  • participate in volunteer community cleanup events in Marina,
  • help supervise weekly volunteer events which will occur each Saturday 9am-1pm
  • learn to ID native plants and understand their ecology and growing requirements.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 or older
Opportunity Training 

Training will include how to identify non-native plants and propagate native plants from a professional botanist and knowledgeable volunteers who will be on-site at all times with Service Learners unless other arrangements are made.

Professional botanist and expert volunteers will provide supervision at all times to Service Learning students except in those cases where Service Learning Students have learned techniques and they become the lead with less experienced or new volunteers.
