For The Child, Inc.

Organization Description

Our mission is to build healthy lives for children and families, free of abuse, neglect, and violence. For The Child provides trauma specialized mental health care for low income and underserved children and teens, along with parent workshops and supports to strengthen families and prevent abuse.

Health & Safety

Children and youth recovering from trauma from abuse, neglect or violence. Risk of vicarious trauma, especially if an intern has their own unresolved trauma history or other mental health conditions that increase their vulnerability. Training and supervision are provided by For The Child to prevent vicarious trauma, but we appreciate feedback from LBCIP if an intern reports finding this placement too challenging for them. Wellness of our staff and interns is important to us. This is an advanced mental health/social services placement and not a good first placement for someone too sensitive emotionally or sheltered in life experience.

Photography of our clients is not allowed to protect their confidentiality. We also follow HIPAA guidelines regarding confidential protected health information.

Each intern will be assigned to a primary supervisor at the site where they are placed and based on their field of study and type of internship (e.g. Program Support v. Accounting v. Social Media. Some supervision may be delegated by the primary supervisor.
