1st Grade Reading Buddy and TutorAt — Prunedale Elementary - NMCUSD

Opportunity Summary 

Service learners will be placed with first grade classes on a rotating basis. Teachers provide appropriate books for each student and service learner reads one-on-one with each student. The students are selected by the teacher and we ask that the service learner writes a sentence or two about how the student is progressing.

1st grade classroom: reading buddy & tutor

Requirements:

  • Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
  • Bilingual Desired
  • TB Test
  • COVID Vaccinations
Opportunity Training 

Service learner will work with site principal to determine schedule and each teacher will provide students and appropriate materials for each student. We invite the service learner to ask questions of staff if unsure about tasks.

Principal and classroom teachers will provide support and supervision.
