Teacher Assistant - EncinitasAt — EasterSeals Southern California
Complete service required hours in a licensed child development center. Provide one-one support to children with challenging behaviors or special needs. Additionally, students will:
1. Assist Early Childhood Educators with children in a developmentally appropriate and inclusive educational curriculum for young children, in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, policies and procedures, and Easterseals Southern California (ESSC) standards of conduct.
2. Ensure the safety of children with disabilities and/or atypical behavior.
3. Conduct general classroom housekeeping duties and general maintenance, etc.
Gain knowledge on early intervention strategies for children ages 2-5 years old and work with their families. Will create plans and goals and understand the referral process to Regional Center and the School District. Additionally, by the end of the srevice learning opporrunity, students will:
1. Be able to implement a developmentally appropriate research-based early childhood curriculum that consists of:
1. Running Circle Time
2. Creating Lesson Plans
3. Using assessment tools to score student development
4. Complete student observation notes
2. Be able to identify and implement Head Start Early Learning Outcomes, provide school readiness goals, and learn about parent and family engagement.
1. To help the student achieve the learning outcomes, Site Administration and teachers will allow student volunteers to shadow teachers and work hands-on with classroom curricula. Teachers will show the volunteers all the assessment tools and when ready allow volunteers to make their own student observations.
2. For feedback, volunteers will submit their student observations and assessment to teachers and Site Administration for review.
Will need to be fingerprinted and fully covid-19 vaccinated.
