Student Support Center VolunteerAt — Monterey County Free Libraries - Seaside Branch

Opportunity Summary

Help underprivileged students with homework help after school. Students that visit the library often have nowhere else to go for homework help. Instead of being the last choice, we want to be the first choice by offering a friendly, welcoming, and safe environment where kids can always get the help they need.

5 service learner spots

Opportunity Training

Service learners will receive training before service.  We will have regular check-ins and reviews.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity

Students will work unsupervised with minors a lot of the time because the Branch Manager and other staff will be helping other customers. We will always be on site and available to help, but sometimes will be in a different part of the room with other people.

Opportunity Application Instructions

Students interested in this position will need to submit a general Monterey County Free Libraries volunteer application (PDF application here).

They will then be asked to complete a brief interview to ensure that library staff can determine if the student will be a good fit for the homework center.
