Program Information

General Description of what students will be doing at this Site: Student provides support for activities of the CNE, including the Leadership Education and Development Institute (LEAD). The purpose of CNE is to help strengthen local nonprofits of all types and sizes and encourage transformative organizational development. It serves as the education and training arm of the Community Foundation for Monterey County, a local nonprofit foundation.

Key Responsibilities: Impact and Learning (Spring) Responsible for contacting organizations that have received CNE support or funding to gather stories of impact and data. Conduct interviews with attention to ethical and respectful relationships. Post gathering materials, the intern will need to develop clear written materials to share with the community, donors, and board members. This work of gathering and synthesizing information is essential in learning the impact of CNE support within our nonprofit community. Workshop Development and Execution (Summer) CNE is a major supporter of nonprofit development within our community. The intern will work closely with the Director of Center for Nonprofit Excellence to learn best practices in developing workshops and trainings, then develop and deliver her own nonprofit workshop through the CNE. Leadership Education and Development – LEAD Institute (Fall) The CNE intern will work with the Director and Capacity Building Associate to support the outreach, application, and interview process of potential LEAD Institute 2022 participants. Through this process the intern will gain an understanding of the components of nonprofit leadership development and the needs and interests of local leaders. The intern may also be responsible for updating materials, coordinating with facilitators and alumni to help launch the 2022 Institute.

Desired Intern Characteristics: Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, and see projects through to completion. Ability to successfully network and build respectful relationships with local leaders and organizations from diverse backgrounds in a variety of settings. Integrity and strong listening, interpersonal, networking, and customer service skills.

Interprofessional opportunities available for the student: Opportunity to interact with staff and volunteers from a broad range of nonprofit organizations. Chance to participate in workshops, webinars and trainings for a nonprofit audience.
