About North Star Counseling Center

North Star Counseling Center was conceptualized by Inyo County Superintendent of Schools, Terry McAteer and Mono County Office of Education, Stacey Adler. Their goal was to provide an environment in which students and members of the communities of Inyo and Mono counties were able to access affordable counseling and therapy.
When behavioral issues surface, students struggle with the ability to achieve both academic and social successes. Many families are unable to afford private counseling services and the local county mental health agencies are experiencing exceptionally high caseloads. North Star Counseling Center provides the necessary counseling and therapy sessions to students which help them to thrive in school and at home.
North Star is staffed by Associate Marriage and Family Therapists and Associate Clinical Social Workers, who are seeking completion of 3,000 supervised clinical hours. They are supervised weekly by licensed members of the mental health care community.
