Opportunity Summary 

Provide companionship to person living with dementia, allowing the care partner to get a break. Watch a movie, take a walk, do a puzzle - engage the person in ways that are fun and meaningful. There's no hands-on care required.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

-Students will understand the basics of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias -Students will learn effective communication strategies for individuals living with dementia -Students will learn the organization's Positive Approach to Care philosophy -Students will provide a critical service while forming a deep bond with a local family -Students will get hands-on experience to inform their future educational and career choices

Core virtual training & quiz (1.5 hours) Training workbook (2-4 hours) Other training as needed (1-2 hours)

Opportunity Application Instructions 

Interview, training & forms, TB test only if the risk assessment determines it's necessary, and background screening (organization pays for)
