Safe Families for Children, Monterey Bay

Organization Description

Safe Families for Children is a non-profit working to prevent child abuse and neglect, strengthen parents in crisis, and keep families together. We are a family preservation movement that works in a preventative nature to step in before children may be removed from their families and placed in foster care. Safe Families has chapters throughout the US and in other countries, and we began the Santa Cruz chapter in 2019.

Safe Families for Children is a public non-profit, does not discriminate and is inclusive of all people. We do have a faith based component in that we mobilize many of our volunteers via churches and are motivated by our values to serve those in need, however this is not a requirement of any participant or volunteer. We aspire to welcome anyone to our team, regardless of faith.

You may visit the video on our homepage for a helpful illustration of Safe Families in action and our mission of radically changing the way communities surround families who are facing crisis and prevent the need for foster care.

We look forward to connecting with you!

Program Information

Safe Families for Children is a non-profit working to prevent child abuse and neglect, strengthen parents in crisis, and keep families together. We are a family preservation movement that works in a preventative nature to step in before children may be removed from their families and placed in foster care.

We have a variety of intern positions available from working directly with parents and children facing crisis such as homelessness, domestic violence, mental health struggles, substance abuse, etc. in a case management type of role, to fund development and donor relations, social media support, church engagement and volunteer recruitment, and learning how to initiate and grow a thriving non-profit in a new area. We have been having significant growth in family referrals and would love a CHHS intern to join our team as we seek to serve isolated families who are facing desperate times.

Safe Families has chapters throughout the US and in other countries, and we began our chapter here in 2019.
