- How to recognize signs of and support students through mental/emotional stress, via socioemotional learning curriculum

- A diverse range of mentorship styles and how to tailor them toward their mentee's strengths and challenges.

- Training in pedagogy, workload management, and socioemotional skills before working with students - How to adapt to and provide feedback on mentorship effectiveness when working with students and peer mentors

- How to engage students in a virtual learning environment.

Opportunity Training

We have worked with Research Professors from UC San Diego (Sally Sadoff), Brown University (Matthew Kraft), and Bentley University (Jeff Livingston) to develop a mentor training curriculum for effective pedagogy, student engagement, recognizing signs of mental/emotional stress, and socioemotional skills. All mentors are required to undergo a one-hour training workshop, and will be provided a detailed guideline on interacting with mentees. In addition, there will be peer-led meetings and supervised mentorship sessions to offer feedback on mentorship and allow mentors to adapt to and learn from new styles.
