Organization Description

Hollywood PAL drives positive change in the community we serve by partnering with LAPD and school-aged youth in programs that celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion and inspire personal excellence, social awareness, and civic engagement. We create opportunities for Officer and volunteer led sports, academics and enrichment programs for youth to provide impactful opportunities for personal growth and development while developing relationships between kids, cops and community.

Program Information

As a small grass roots youth organization, there are multiple areas for specific projects as well as general activities working with youth in executing programs. Serving over 600 youth annually, we can use interns in nearly every aspect of the organization including but not limited to 1) Marketing and communications, social media support, web design, content development, branding campaign, community outreach, fund raising, print design, events and other external communications. 2) Finance and budgeting, and nonprofit projects, organizational filings, grant management, research, database management, IT support 3) Operations execution in our work with youth ages 6-17. Our overall program umbrella creates opportunities for underserved youth through athletics, academics and enrichment. Our primary programs include: Soccer, Martial Arts, Basketball, Run club, Tutoring (virtual and in person) Mentoring, Girl Scouts, Arts Club, Life Skills, Workforce and/or higher education prep and a variety enrichment academies. Interns would assist Officers and staff ensuring programs are executed as structured and provide insight on how we might improve. 4) Program effectiveness evaluation projects including surveys, interviews, participant and family outreach, data collection, reviewing metrics and outcomes to ensure alignment with Hollywood PAL’s mission, vision and strategic plan 5) Project and outreach on social impact – evaluations and plan development of relationship development between law enforcement, youth, families and community

Health & Safety

Interns may be working directly with youth on our in person programs. Therefore, while we follow city, county, state recommended guidelines for covid safety, there is no guarantee against possible exposure.

  • Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
  • Health Check/Screening (e.g. temperature screening, COVID-19 test)
  • SUPERVISION: Students may be required to work at night (after 6pm).
  • SUPERVISION: Students will be supervised less than 50% of the time or the supervisor will be responsible for overseeing more than 8 people.

Based on the specific area of interest or project hours can vary Main Office Hours 9-5 Monday - Friday Programs are primarily after school from Monday-Friday 3pm to 9pm with some programs on Saturdays or Sundays any time from 7am - 6pm Additionally there are a variety of special events, outreach events or family activities that may happen during non-regular hours.
