      Organization Description    
    Verpond is developing new scalable and cost-effective methods to grow micro-algae for large scale conversion into biofuels. Verpond's ultimate goal is to produce enough algae biomass to displace the use of fossil fuels and reduce environmental carbon dioxide concentrations to pre-industrial levels.

      Additional requirements and/or considerations    The student will work with acids and bases as well as compounds that are poisonous in their concentrated forms but harmless at their working concentrations (e.g. iron chloride).
