Health Equity Research ProgramAt — Children's Dental Foundation
The CDHC is launching a health equity research program with a goal of improving care delivery inside the Medi-Cal environment. Students will have the unique opportunity to conduct secondary research about care delivery within the Medi-Cal landscape, conceptualize applied research questions that can be explored with deidentified patient data, assist in the construction an NIDCR (National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research) proposal, and identify additional funding mechanisms (government, foundations, etc).
- Limitations to Medi-Cal reimbursements for oral health care and the resulting impacts on care delivery systems.
- How to conduct a thorough literature review and present findings to both a research and administrator audience.
- How to conceptualize applied research questions.
- How to approach applications for NIH (National Institute of Health) funding.
- How to conduct a landscape analysis of funding mechanisms in the oral health space
Training will be delivered on an as-needed basis. Students will be mentored by program staff members with advanced training in research methodology and clinic administration.
