Service-Learning OpportunitiesAt — Santa Barbara Zoo
This opportunity provides students with practical experience in Spanish–English translation while supporting community access and inclusion at the Santa Barbara Zoo. The course primarily involves remote work, translating written materials such as educational content, signage, marketing copy, and visitor resources, allowing students to build professional translation skills in a flexible format. In addition, students may participate in optional in-person opportunities, including live interpretation, community engagement events, and educational programs at the Zoo. Through this blend of remote and hands-on experiences, students strengthen language proficiency, cultural competency, and real-world translation skills while contributing to meaningful public-serving work in an informal education and conservation-focused setting.
