Event and Marketing InternAt — Enlarge Media Group

Opportunity Summary

CASL, the California Amateur Skateboard League is the longest-running amateur skateboard league in the US. Started by Tony Hawk's dad in 1981, it has run consistently since.

Think \\Little League of Skateboarding\\, this league is now owned and operated by Enlarge Media Group, LLC. We run 1 contest per month in different parts of Southern California. Since Enlarge Media took the league over in 2017 we have now started it back on a path to being a nationwide league, rather than just Southern California, with leagues now in Florida, Utah, NorCal, and a nationwide video contest series. We have a few more leagues coming online in the 2023 season.

As an intern, you will gain exposure and education to many parts of what it takes to run a youth sports league.

  • Event planning, including permits, insurance, staffing, etc.
  • Marketing and advertising, including exposure to the Facebook ad platform
  • Team Coordination across multiple regional leagues across the US

Along with this, we will also give you some in-depth knowledge with respect to online marketing and brand development, as this is Enlarge Media's bread and butter.

Student will assist in:
Spreadsheet work - Data accumulation and organization
Online marketing - writing and putting together online ads
Team coordination - helping to organize and keep several regional teams on the same page
Insurance and City Permit coordination

Training:

The start of your internship will include a couple hours of orientation where we take you through the history of the league, the current status, the organization's hierarchy, operations, marketing, etc. From there, the majority of your internship/training will involve short lessons on a certain piece of our process (20-30 min) that goes into what we are working on, why we do it the way we do it. If it involves a specific platform or software, there will be task-oriented training on that. Finally, you will shadow your mentor through a series of processes, and eventually will be given pieces to complete on your own.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end, you will know what it takes to plan a youth sporting event from start to finish including interacting with city and private property owners, marketing, staffing, and executing.
By the end, you will have some real and resume-ready experience in brand development and marketing team coordination
