CST 462S: Salinas Science Workshop Design ProjectAt — Salinas Community Science Workshop
This opportunity is reserved for students enrolled in CST 462S.
The Salinas Community Science Workshop is looking for a Service Learner to aid in elevating our small non-profit. Some of the following projects are focused on redesigning elements of our media and technology so that we appear more professional to our community and maintain a streamlined public appearance. Website redesign - Our website was designed by the DigitalNest, however since its creation in 2020, our staff has had challenges learning and troubleshooting the platform. This project would entail our student, coaching staff through web managment, or helping establish a new website/platform. Brand Logo redesign - We love our image and logo, however our organization is interested in revamping what we currently have. The new logo would appear on our website, all our marketing material, and lead as a distinguishing symbol for our community. Website translation into Spanish- We serve the Alisal Community in East Salinas. Our community is home to a large Spanish speaking population and we would like our website to be more accessible to them. This project would entail translating resources that exist on our website and designing a space for information to be shared in both languages. Social Media elevation - Our organization is engaged on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. We are looking for guidance in understanding analytics, how to elevate our appearance, use social media as a tool to create community, and bring more high quality content to our followers, including digital flyer design, videos, and reels. Mobile Workshop Bus Graphic Design Brainstorm- Our organization recently remodeled a retired MST Bus, to be used as our mobile workshop on wheels! This project would entail a student being engaged in the designing process for a very large 15 foot bus.
