Opportunity Summary 

Jefferson Elementary offers a variety of opportunities to engage with students from kindergarten to fifth Grade. There are positions to work with kindergarten students to work in small groups to build early literacy and math skills, first and second graders who need extra conversational skills in English, after school clubs for all ages and fifth graders that need help researching and writing a report on social justice or environmental resources. No experience is necessary as you will be guided and working with a teacher.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

University students will learn ways to support students through activities from literacy and language to support student learning. University students will learn communication skills and other practical skills to engage student as well as the importance of being a mentor and how that builds resilience in younger students. University students will also learn how to interact with students who come from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Opportunity Training 

University Students will work with a teacher who will model and help direct them in activities to help support elementary student learning. University students will also learn the importance of making connections to students and modeling how one learns.
