Opportunity Summary 

The Veterans Success Center supports former, current, and future service members of the United States Armed Forces and their dependents with the transition from higher education to career, navigation through their academic experience, and celebration of their service and achievements by offering high-quality support services, resources, and events.

  • The Veterans Success Center serves veterans, active duty, Guard, reserve, and ROTC members, and dependents of US servicemembers.
  • The Veterans Success Center provides orientation, advising, and benefit certification for those using VA, CalVet or DoD benefits.
  • The Veterans Success Center offers programs, to include workshops, counseling groups, writing groups, and referral services.
  • The Veterans Success Center offers a space for students to work, congregate, and engage, both at SBC and PDC
  • The Veterans Success Center offers scholarships
  • The Veterans Success Center offer two affinity graduation celebrations each year
  • The Veterans Success Center informs students on benefits, career paths, and academic programs so students make informed decisions.

Fellows will:

  • Connect with local schools (HSs, CCCs, IHLs) to inform about military and dependent benefits and opportunities for college.
  • Contact community partners, local resource centers, career centers, and counseling centers
  • Keep logs of work and outreach, record progress, and provide summative reports
  • Assist in clerical work and events at VSC
  • Cross train with other campus centers to promote programs to potential students

Preferred Skills: 

  • Good oral/written communication skills, public speaking, analytical thinking
  • Marketing/design, social media campaigns
  • MS, Adobe, Excel
  • Organization

Scheduling: 

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
