Volunteer PositionAt — Carrico Pediatric Therapy, Inc.

Opportunity Summary

All Volunteers get a "backstage pass" on seeing what Pediatric Therapy is all about (OT/PT/ST). In order to help our facilities run smoothly, Volunteers assist therapists with therapy sessions by cleaning up and setting up, socially interacting with patients, front office duties, and organizing equipment and toys to maintain cleanliness in our facilities. Volunteers have the opportunity to ask questions to therapists and observe confidential and private sessions.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

Students will have learned techniques and ways to work with children with disabilities, deficits, and impairments. Our patients, on average, come to therapy weekly and sometimes, for many years, making the patient + therapist relationship very close and often, becoming like a family member.

Opportunity Training

Direct (in-person one-on-one) and indirect (video introduction) training.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity

All Volunteers acknowledge the risk of contracting COVID-19 with many patients being too young or too low cognitively to tolerate mask wearing.
