On Campus Plastic Wrap recycling internAt — Plastic Beach
Our innovative non-profit is looking for a driven Sustainability student (or similar field) from a local San Diego area college to help us grow our non-profit and its innovative plastic wrap recycling program. Duties will include assisting with marketing and outreach, and on campus outreach with CSUSM's plastic waste recycling partnership with Plastic Beach.
PLEASE READ: Our 501c3 non-profit is in a critical new-growth phase and so we are looking for a very motivated individual willing to use their Sustainability Degree knowledge (or similar) to help us and you(!) flourish. Hours will start at 1-3 hrs for 1 weekday per week, usually Tue or Wed, 10 am start (but flexible), and as we continue to become more successful in our community plastic wrap program the available hours and pay WILL rise, as we want to mentor the right candidate!
Students will be taught about the challenges of plastic wrap recycling and how our non-profit is addressing them in our community, along with planning and conducting outreach events and media campaigns.
Operational training will be provided on the proper use of warehouse equipment and baler when needed. Students will also be trained on the basic functioning of the organization and plastic waste recycling.
Students may be lifting/moving/pulling upto 50 lbs. of bagged plastic wrap, including loading into, and operating a vertical baler.
