Opportunity Summary 

REMOTE ONLY

This Field Practice experience will be most valuable to CHHS students interested in nonprofit management as their career of choice (NOT social work or client contact).

Working directly with the Executive Board/Officers, under the supervision of the Executive Director, you will have the opportunity to apply "the knowledge and skills necessary to become an effective leader and manager within the community-based nonprofit organization sector, focusing on organizational, operational, programmatic, and regulatory aspects of accounting, management, finance and staff leadership that are unique to nonprofit organizations".

Our indirect-services work incorporates the five of the seven Major Learning Outcomes of the CHHS program. · Management Concepts, Tools, and Theories · Professional Communication · Collaborative Leadership · Data­ Driven and Ethical Decision Making · Equity and Social Justice.

We are looking for candidates who have an interest in: · Assisting the Executives Director · Assisting with Member services · Assisting with the planning, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of programs, peer-learning opportunities, and events

Over the course of two or three semesters, you would be working with a very diverse, all volunteer board of professionals with experience in the management and governance of nonprofits, consulting, business, and government.

There will be weekly check-ins with the Executive Director, who will serve as your Mentor, to discuss and clarify expectations/milestones for your work and for our support for your success.

You will be invited to join monthly Board Committee meetings and meetings of the entire Board, every other month, where your perspective would be valued.

Potential Capstone Project areas: The focus of our work will be on Programs, Development, and Membership. By the second or third semester, you would have the knowledge, experience, and confidence to: Programs - assist with the planning, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of different programs, peer­ learning opportunities, and events for local/regional nonprofit Board and/or Staff members.

Desired characteristics: an interest in nonprofit management; maturity and self-confidence to work independently with direction; willingness to improve writing skills; ability to develop and stick to a schedule;
