Intern/Trainee Therapist responsibilities:

- Assist behavior therapists to implement behavior reduction and skill acquisition treatment plans

- Teach individuals with autism how to communicate, play, make friends, and function independently, help reduce any inappropriate behaviors

- Travel to sites to work with clients in their natural settings, such as in their home, in a public setting, or virtually via Telehealth

- Collaborate and engage with treatment teams by participating in clinical meetings to and get specific feedback from case managers

- Collecting data during sessions to demonstrate client's progress

- Other clerical duties as assigned
 

Requirements:

- High school diploma/GED or equivalent

- Highly reliable, punctual, and professional

- Reliable means to travel to work sites within 10-mile radius of main facility (Stanton)

- Good written and verbal communications

- Strong interpersonal skills

- Desire to help individuals and families impacted with ASD

- Accountability and eagerness to learn

- Computer proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Google cloud products, etc.

- Successful medical and background clearance (associated costs are 100% reimbursable after probation is completed)

 

Nice to have (but NOT required):

- Exposure to ABA or autism professionally or personally

- Majors in Human Services, Teaching, Psychology, or Child Development

- Bilingual (Vietnamese, Spanish, or other languages)

Tasks:

Assist behavior therapists to implement behavior reduction and skill acquisition treatment plans, including but not limited to assisting clients with day to day activities, monitor their behavior, record and collect data on patients' progress, and communicate with clients

Training:

- Online and on-the-field training for ABA at sessions run by a therapist
- Regular meetings with board-certified analysts to assign learning goals and check on progress
- Learn the theories and techniques required to conduct an ABA session under supervision
- Learn to communicate with other team members regarding client needs, progress, or other issues on cases assigned

Learning Outcome:

- Can recognize common symptoms for an ASD diagnosis
- Be familiar ABA theories and techniques
- Be able to run assigned program to help the client achieve goals
- Be able to take data and complete a therapy session note
