Open Heart Kitchen
Open Heart Kitchen’s mission is "Equitable access to nutritious food today, while building a food secure tomorrow."
We understand hunger isn’t just about food—it’s often connected to things like poverty, housing insecurity, and other systemic issues. That’s why we do more than just provide meals in the Tri-Valley. We also partner with other local groups and build programs that support long-term change.
In January 2024, we opened the Vineyard Resource Center in Livermore. It’s a space where people can grab a hot meal (we serve over 400 a day!), take a shower, do laundry, and connect with services like healthcare, counseling, and housing support. It’s also home to Open Heart Refuge, our overnight shelter for adults without stable housing.
In addition to Vineyard, we run a Senior Meal Program offering sit-down meals for adults 60+ in Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore.
Looking to get involved? We’re always looking for student volunteers to help with our Community Meal Program, Senior Meal Program, or Open Heart Refuge.

Open Heart Kitchen does not accept walk-in volunteers.
If you’re interested in helping out, you’ll need to go through a quick signup process with our Volunteer Coordinator. That includes filling out an application, signing a Volunteer Waiver, and completing a background check.
