Organization Description

Augmenting Forensic, Educational, and Psychological Needs of Individuals and Communities in Poverty. A unique opportunity for MSW, MFT-I, ACSW, MA and LPCC Students to be exposed to and acquire a variety of clinical mental health skills working in a forensic mental health program. Students will learn Clinical Evaluation, Assessment, Therapeutic intervention, consultation and group training skills working with an offender based population.

Program Information

Under the supervision of a Licensed Mental Health Clinical Director, Interns will be trained on and obtain: • Conduct in-custody forensic mental health assessments • DSM-5TR Clinical Diagnostic Skills, develop diagnostic formulation, identify differential diagnosis • Clinical Evaluation inclusive of Mini and Full Mental Status Exams • Bio-Psycho-Social Assessment • Variety of Clinical Screening tools to asses for depression, psychosis, anxiety and trauma • Conduct testing utilizing reliable tools to identify social emotional deficits. • Utilizing evidence based practice (EBP) and Evidence Based Therapy (EBP) • Development of Intervention Plan and Clinical report (HIPPAA compliant), • Composing Progress Notes, SOAP, SOAPIER, DAP, BIO, PIE, etc… • Provide crises intervention as needed. • Ongoing trainings and clinical supervision provided. • DSM-5 TR Diagnosis to include Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Psychosis, Anxiety and Cluster A-B-C traits.
