Opportunity Summary 

Serve as a Role Model and Provide informal education to teens designed to connect and inspire by promoting the growth, empowerment, and well-being of high school-aged girls. This is done through creating the culture of NCSY, which means upward movement and growth for teens and for the community.  The 4G Director will be involved with the communities and synagogues in the area, as one of the liaisons for NCSY, building key relationships with community leaders and community members. The 4G Director will identify opportunities to continue relationships with teens from\u25cf Create and implement a year-long calendar of weekly activities, social events and holiday programming for girls schools
\u25cb 4x per week events
\u25cb 1x per month Shabbath hosting
\u25cb 6x annual holiday programs for RH, Sukkot, Chanukah, Tu B’Shvat, Pesach, Shavuot
• 5 –10 one-on-one Torah learning opportunities for local teens
\u25cf Develop and foster a community of Jewish teens that have bought into the NCSY “culture.” including creating and empowering a teen board for 4G programming
\u25cf Design interschool programming for girls
\u25cf Spend at least two designated days a week working with the schools
\u25cf Create, coordinate and run 1 annual girls retreat
\u25cf Recruit and chaperone teens for Regional retreats and events
\u25cf Recruit a minimum of 10 girls to NCSY summer programs, with a specific focus on Michlelet and GIVE
\u25cf Enter all relevant data for attendance at events
\u25cf Help connect potential donors to fundraisers and development staff
\u25cf Partner with schools to assess and implement curriculum and programming that mutually benefits the school and NCSY. Summer programs: Michlelet and GIVE and other female-focused summer programs.

Training:

1. General employer orientation: Students will undergo an initial orientation session that familiarizes them with the organization, its mission, values, and culture. This orientation will provide an overview of the role of a 4G Director and their responsibilities within the organization. It will also cover organizational policies, procedures, and expectations.

2. Mentor meetings: Students will have weekly scheduled one-on-one mentor meetings with an experienced staff member who will guide and support their learning and professional development. These meetings will provide an opportunity for students to discuss their progress, ask questions, seek guidance, and receive feedback on their performance. Mentors can provide valuable insights, share their experiences, and offer advice to help students achieve their learning goals.

3. Job shadowing: To gain a comprehensive understanding of the role and responsibilities of a 4G Director, students may have the opportunity to shadow experienced staff members. This hands-on experience will allow students to observe and learn from professionals in action, understand best practices, and acquire practical skills by witnessing real-world scenarios.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Demonstrate effective leadership skills: The student will develop and refine their ability to lead and inspire high school-aged girls through informal education. They will learn how to create and implement a year-long calendar of activities, design interschool programming, and empower a teen board for 4G programming. They will gain experience in organizing events, coordinating retreats, and building relationships with community leaders and members.

2. Foster a sense of community and belonging: The student will learn how to create a supportive and inclusive community for Jewish teens. They will develop strategies to engage and connect with local teens, build relationships, and encourage active participation in NCSY activities. They will focus on creating an environment where teens feel empowered, valued, and motivated to contribute to the growth and well-being of their community.

3. Cultivate educational and programming skills: The student will acquire skills in curriculum development and programming implementation. They will work closely with schools to assess needs and develop relevant and engaging curriculum and programming that aligns with the goals of both the school and NCSY. The student will also gain experience in organizing holiday programs, one-on-one Torah learning opportunities, and coordinating retreats and events.
