Opportunity Summary 

Job Summary:

Healing To You is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated academic intern to join our mobile medical and mental health nonprofit organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience while contributing to our mission of providing essential healthcare services to underserved communities. As an academic intern, you will provide administrative support, assist with web development and design, and offer computer technical support to ensure the smooth functioning of our organization.

Qualifications:

Current enrollment in an accredited academic program, pursuing a degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social work, information technology, web development, business administration).

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

Proficiency in web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).

Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and troubleshooting techniques.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.l Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and high-quality work.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Passion for healthcare and a desire to make a positive impact on underserved communities.

Proficiency with Google Suite, Canvas, Adobe, MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Familiarity with managing virtual meetings and webinars.

Attention to detail.

Completion of 40-hour California Domestic Violence Advocacy training certification program or willingness to complete before start date.

If a survivor, at least two years out of the relationship.

Responsibilities

Administrative Support: 
Assist with general office tasks, including filing, data entry, and record keeping. 
Help with organizing and maintaining documentation, including reports and financial records.
Support the team with various administrative duties as assigned.

Web Development and Design:
Collaborate with the communications team to update and maintain the organization's website.l Assist in creating engaging and accessible web content, including graphics and multimedia elements.
Ensure website functionality, responsiveness, and user experience.
Conduct regular website audits to identify and address any issues or improvements needed.
Stay up to date with web development and design trends and recommend innovative ideas to enhance our online presence.

Computer Technical Support:
Provide technical assistance to staff members regarding hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve computer problems, both remotely and on-site.l Assist with software installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
Conduct regular system checks and updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
Document technical procedures and create user-friendly guides for staff.

Training:

Orientation and Onboarding:
Provide an overview of the organization's mission, values, and operations.
Familiarize the intern with the organizational structure, key personnel, and departmental roles.
Introduce the intern to the organization's policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
Explain the expectations, objectives, and timelines for the internship.

Administrative Training:
Provide guidance on general office procedures, including filing systems, document management, and record keeping.
Explain the organization's communication protocols, including email etiquette and phone handling.
Train the intern on meeting coordination, preparation of agendas, and taking accurate meeting minutes.
Provide examples and templates for common administrative tasks, such as data entry and report generation.
Offer guidance on maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information.

Web Development and Design Training:
Provide an overview of the organization's website structure, content management system, and existing design elements.
Offer guidance on creating visually appealing and user-friendly web designs consistent with the organization's brand identity.

Professional Development Opportunities:
Encourage the intern to participate in relevant workshops, seminars, or webinars related to their specific roles and interests.
Provide access to online learning platforms or resources to further develop skills in areas such as web development, design, and technical support.
Offer mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals within the organization.
Encourage the intern to attend team meetings and participate in collaborative projects to gain exposure to different aspects of the organization's work.
Regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and ongoing support from supervisors and team members will ensure that the intern receives the necessary training, guidance, and resources to succeed in their role.
