Service Learning OpportunitiesAt — Californians for Pesticide Reform
As one of the top pesticide users in the country, Ventura County farm workers and community at large are being impacted by health hazardous pesticides. In recent years, people across the state have unified to demand robust health protections and won. There are now statewide 1/4 mile buffer zones for all public schools and daycare centers from 6am - 6pm, we won the phase out of a brain-harming chemical called chlorpyrifos, and now close to winning the first in the world advance notification on pesticide applications. Join us as we continue building people power in farmworking communities.
Community organizing and have a better grasp of pesticide policy. Students will also have had an opportunity to participate in helping build community power through local activity engagement.
Students will be given an overview on pesticide policy reform and history on Ventura County work.
Students can support with in-person activities and remotely through Zoom participation.
