Culture Sustaining SupportAt — Raíces y Cariño

Opportunity Summary 

Research and communicate at Raíces y Cariño with marginalized groups and guests to facilitate culture keeping workshops and events such as: Music, Art, Food, and Traditional Health Practices. If a good cultural fit with organizers, student will be RCFam host for extant group, otherwise will research and setup other culturekeeping events.

Opportunity Training 

Onsite or remote one-on-one meetings with co-executive director and team leaders of any or all of the following local cultural groups: Campesina Womb Justice; Kweens Kounsel; Filipino Community of Watsonville; Santa Cruz Black; Barrios Unidos; Islamic Center of Watsonville; Temple Beth El; and others. Weekly meetings and calls as needed. Connections to professional collaborators in the field.

Weekly check-ins with RC director and leaders of organization partners.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students may be required to work at night (after 6pm). Or, students may be supervised less than 50% of the time or the supervisor will be overseeing more than 8 people. This position can be fully remote.
