Organization Description

Merced County Historical Society, in partnership with the County of Merced, operates Merced County Courthouse Museum which provides many educational programs and cultural resource management. The Museum, housed in the historic county courthouse built in 1875, aims to encourage the love and understanding of Merced County’s natural, archaeological and recorded history.

Opportunity Summary

This is an eclectic and interesting job that touches many areas of the Archivist, who report to the Museum Director. He/She will assist in cataloging, caring, and maintaining the museum’s collections. Some entry-level conservator work will be taught to this person (care and handling of historical objects). This person will help in conducting a museum-wide inventory with the registrar (this includes the scanning of pictures and other artifacts). Some help on exhibit installation could be done by this person.
