Program Information

The mission of the Stanislaus County Department of Aging and Veterans Services is to “Help Seniors and Veterans obtain services and benefits they need to live secure, healthy, independent lives.” We connect our clients to the services or programs that are most appropriate and beneficial for them in their current circumstance. If our programs that are focused on Early Intervention and Prevention Mental Health services are not the most appropriate, our staff will help guide and refer them to other programs/services that are available in our County.

Project Hope provided emotional support and social visits to our seniors in Stanislaus County. We are a resource that assists those who are having challenges in their daily lives and may need a helping hand in service coordination or in reducing symptoms of depression. If you are interested in learning more about the senior population, making a significant difference in the lives of an older adult and having the opportunity to engage hands on in both micro and macro social work this is the placement for you.

Student activities consist of but aren't limited to the following: Receive and complete reports of adult neglect and abuse from the community for degree of urgency. Provide information and referral for services. Maintain Navigation and/or clinical client case load Attend field supervision weekly Maintain organized charting and filling of client records Organize program files digital in V drive and hard copy in file cabinet Work independently Provide initial intake, crisis intervention and counseling services to older adults. Study homes/rooms of older adults to confirm suitable living conditions. Provide services to and advocate for older adults in out-of-home care and seek expansion of support system. Conduct outreach, provide community education and public relations, and other special projects. Build rapport and relationships with community organizations and services agencies. Assist in community presentations of department and program Consult with various department programs Participate in and complete required training courses.
