Opportunity Summary 

The intern will help assist the children during independent work time, grading the students' classwork/tests. Observing lessons, and if interested teaching a lesson. The intern will also help supervise the students at recess/play time. The intern will be able to learn how to lesson plan and what all goes into teaching at an elementary level. 

Observe myself while teaching lessons.
Helping assist the students with their work.
Helping supervise play time/recess.
Helping grade their classwork and tests.
Learning how to manage students.
Learning how to lesson plan for two weeks at a time.
Teaching a lesson or more if the intern chooses too.

Training:

The student will learn how to lead and facilitate reading groups. The training will also include learning how to lesson plan for all subject areas, grades tests, job shadowing of myself teaching lessons in all subject areas. The training will also include one-on-one mentor meetings weekly. The training will include answering any questions about teaching. The student will also have the opportunity to teach a lesson or two in a subject area of their choice. The student will also be given the opportunity to help in classroom management. The training will also include the more behind the scenes of teaching as well, such as entering grades and how to communicate with parents.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to help assist students in their claasswork.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to lesson plan for two weeks at a time.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to feel comfortable teaching lessons, while managing the students.
