Crisis Intervention Coach- K. KanelAt — CSUF - College of Health and Human Development
Only students that have successfully completed HUSR 410 Crisis Intervention may apply for this internship. Students will attend a training, supervision after each coaching session, attend two different sections of HUSR 410 weekly, and lead coaching groups where they will guide students in the class in learning basic attending skills, suicide assessment, and the ABC Model of Crisis Intervention. This internship requires attending two courses with two different instructors weekly as well as coaching the small group of students throughout the semester. Students will attend supervision after each coaching session, collect reaction papers, and evaluate students on their performance doing role plays with the instructor assistance.

training:
conduct a training at the beginning of the semester for all interns for 2 hours.
join the coaching groups daily and role model how to coach.
conduct group supervision after each coaching session.
discuss the model while the intern participates and engages in the class with the enrolled students.
Learning Outcomes:
Take the leadership role in a small coaching group of 7-8 students with a co-coach.
Guide students to learn how to use basic counseling skills, conduct suicide assessments, and conduct the ABC Model of Crisis intervention with a variety of client issues.
Evaluate the performance of students in role plays.
Seek supervision when needed.
