Hospice Student-Volunteer At — Volunteer Services - Montage Health

Opportunity Summary 

Students will have the opportunity to provide direct (non-medical) support to hospice patients by offering companionship visits all throughout the Monterey Peninsula.

In addition, students will provide administrative/clerical support to the Volunteer Services Coordinator. Clerical tasks include tuck-in calls to patients and families, data entry, compliance tracking, and opportunities to join in marketing and tabling events.

Lastly, students will be able to take part in the interdisciplinary team meetings and see how the clinical team works together to support the hospice patients.

  • Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
  • Driver's License
  • Health Check/Screening (e.g. temperature screening, COVID-19 test)
  • Must be 18 or older
  • TB Test
  • Vaccinations
Opportunity Training 

1/2 day orientation discussing the following: Hospital Policies and Procedures HIPPA and Patient Privacy Training What is hospice? In-home Safety Role of hospice student-volunteer. There will be weekly meetings and regular check-ins.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

No photography is allowed at patients' homes or nursing facilities.
