Bring history to life for elementary studentsAt — First Mayor's House / Harvey House Museum
Join us in bringing the early history of Salinas (1870) to life for third graders as they participate in a morning of hands on activities. From making butter and washing socks on a washboard to hearing the story of the barley doll who exploded, local students say this is their favorite field trip EVER. Our service learners are a big part of why the morning is so special!
We will offer this program on Thursday and Friday from mid-March through May.
Students should be able to commit to one of the two days. SLs should plan to arrive by 8:45 a.m. and will finish by noon. If necessary, we can work with students who need to return to campus for a noon class.
4 service learner spots
Our leadership team will provide the training needed for service learners to excell. In addition, we have a docent handbook that outlnes expectations and procedures.
Our service learners are NEVER alone with the elementary students. There are always at least three adults with many years of experience working with our service learners to deliver the program to students.
